I want to tell you about my recent experience in Bangkok and what it taught me. I’d just arrived in Bangkok after a long day of travel, I’d been up since 3:30am, it was the kind of day that leaves you feeling wrung out and ready for bed.
We’d had a beautiful dinner, gone to a Michelin guide restaurant that does upmarket versions of authentic Thai street food. I had eaten a lot of delicious food and all I wanted was to curl up and sleep.
But our hotel had a rooftop bar that overlooked the heart of the city, all glittering lights and movement and even though I was exhausted, I thought: When will I ever be here in Bangkok again, staying in a lovely hotel with a rooftop bar?
